North Newstead Association sponsored lunch for 54 seniors from O’Fallon, JeffVanderLou, Carr Square, and Columbus Square as part of the Bringing It Together. Last year more than 1,000 seniors took part in enjoying music, dancing, food, and inter-generational activities with youth and this year had a great turnout too! We were happy to work with other organizations including the Southside Senior Citizens Center and the other event collaborators.

Penrose/O’Fallon/Fairground-area Meeting
On May 17th, Penrose and Fairground neighborhood association presidents as well as representatives from the O’Fallon neighborhood association met with area service providers, 3rd Ward Alderman Brandon Bosley, and 21st Ward Alderman John Collins-Muhammad’s Chief of Staff Tory Russell (John Collins-Muhammad had a prior engagement and wasn’t able to attend our discussion) to explore the conditions, strengths, and concerns in these neighborhoods. The two-hour meeting was filled with productive brainstorming and conversation. We appreciate all those who came out and thanks to Barbara Levin and the Alliance for Building Capacity for organizing and coordinating the meeting. The blue post-it notes are strengths the group identified and yellow post-it notes were concerns or issues the group identified. Are there strengths that the group missed? Do you have concerns that the group didn’t bring up? Please let us know!
