Tired of tires
Thank you to everyone who participated! Together, we collected over 5,000 illegally dumped tires this year. Though the 2024 season is over, there are still ways to support our community’s commitment to a cleaner, safer city. Watch for upcoming 2025 event dates!
In an effort to promote environmental safety and the health of our community, North Newstead Association is excited to continue our work in collaboration with 11th Ward Alderwoman Laura Keys to expand the tire amnesty program to monthly Tired of Tires: Free Tire Collection Days into 2025. By providing a convenient and free opportunity for residents to dispose of improperly discarded tires, we hope to make a positive impact on the local environment and encourage sustainable habits.
Improperly discarded tires can be found all over the City, bringing with them not only significant environmental hazards but also acting as breeding grounds for disease-carrying mosquitos and other pests alike. Learn more from our June 2023 workshop on Monarchs and Mosquitos here.
In the meantime, there are ways that individuals and businesses can play a part in keeping our city and alleyways clean.
